Transparency

Transparency is essential to building trust, and it guides how Rosie leads every day.

Rosie is committed to continue earning the public's trust by maintaining strong community relationships and holding herself and her team to the highest standards.

She believes the public deserves clear, accessible information. That's why Rosie created the Salt Lake County Jail Dashboard--an interactive tool that provides daily updates on the jail population--and has expanded data sharing with criminal justice partners to improve coordination and outcomes across the system.

Rosie leads with an open-door approach, listening to the community, responding to concerns, and using public input to shape decisions. She also regularly reviews polices and practices to keep the Sheriff's Office responsive and effective.

Looking ahead, Rosie will continue expanding transparency efforts and improving access to information so the public can stay informed and engaged.

Public Safety

Public Safety is Rosie's top priority. She works every day to prevent crime, support victims, and hold offenders accountable, while making sure the right resources are in place to keep communities safe.

Rosie is working with the Salt Lake County Council and Mayor to expand jail capacity and address long-term needs while maintaining zero overcrowding releases.

She continues to strengthen programs that reduce repeat offenses and improve coordination across the justice system so resources are used effectively.

Rosie is also working to expand the Salt Lake Area Gang Project, strengthening enforcement while growing prevention and intervention efforts to reach youth early.

She knows public safety starts with a strong workforce and prioritizes supporting her employees through competitive pay and retention.

Through steady leadership and experience, Rosie continues to strengthen public safety across Salt Lake County.

Accountability

Accountability is essential to public safety. Rosie takes an approach that protects the community while reducing repeat offenses. She recognizes that accountability can take many forms.

She is focused on expanding treatment and supervised alternatives to incarceration for those who qualify, including mental health care and substance use treatment, while ensuring the jail remains a critical tool for those who pose a risk to public safety.

Rosie is working to break the cycle of crime by strengthening programs that address root causes and provide structure, supervision, and support. She is working to expand access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in the jail and funding programs that reduce recidivism and improve outcomes after release.

She also recognizes that many calls for service involve people in crisis and is increasing training for her deputies and civilian staff to respond effectively.

Through this evidence-based approach, Rosie is strengthening accountability while improving long-term outcomes.
